Liverpool wouldn't be Liverpool without Ireland.


The 1840s saw over a million souls arrive at the Clarence Dock, Liverpool to escape the famine raging in Ireland. There had been Irish in Liverpool before but this was an arrival that would change the character of the city forever, change the language and accent and help define it as the most distinctive city in Britain.
